‘Harps of the North’ film release for Walter Scott 250

Harps of the North

Today, on composer Edvard Grieg’s birthday, we are delighted to announce the release of our film contribution to the Walter Scott 250 anniversary year.

Harps of the North : Edvard Grieg & Andreas Munch in the World of Walter Scott tells the story of a song, composed by Grieg to words by Munch, that was created in Rome and stimulated by a pilgrimage to Abbotsford, the home of Walter Scott.

Decades after his death, Walter Scott was still a major influence on writers and musicians in Europe and – the subject of our film – Scandinavia.

Announcing our participation in the Walter Scott 250th anniversary celebrations

We are delighted to announce our participation in The Walter Scott 250 Partnership celebrating the 250th anniversary of the birth of the great Scottish writer.

Walter Scott 250

Our contribution to the celebrations will be a short documentary film exploring a special, but little understood facet of Edvard Grieg’s early work. We will be launching the film on the composer’s birthday, 15 June 2021.

The Scott 250 celebratory year comprises a wide range of events aimed at changing perceptions of ‘Scotland’s greatest storyteller’, and offering new and refreshing perspectives on his legacy.
